The Aetharian Atlas An Illustrated World Guide

Five lands share one world, divided by mountains, water, old borders, dangerous roads, and the occasional reality problem. Choose a place on the map to begin exploring.

Each land has its own rhythm, traditions, dangers, comforts, and deeply questionable local problems. Choose one to step inside its full world.

The Five-Pointed Kingdom

Seoul

A fertile kingdom shaped around the Star Lake and the pentagonal Queenslands. Seoul lives beneath the Three Lights, organizes life through Sun and Moon paths, and treats cultivated skill as something worth displaying beautifully. Its abundance of animals shapes everything from law and agriculture to religion and ordinary city planning.

The Snowbound Kingdom

Mistralis

A compact kingdom buried beneath relentless snow, Mistralis survives through engineered warmth and obsessive preparation. Ley-heat moves beneath its streets, immense greenhouses feed its districts, and the Hearthways turn vital infrastructure into public life. White wolves and enormous polar bears are as much part of its identity as blue and silver.

The Realm Beyond the Falls

Eldralis

Eldralis is a land of dramatic contrasts. Mist-fed cities rise among waterfalls, bridges, canals, and green stone, while farther beyond the falls lie ash country, volcanic glass, sulfur vents, and the kingdom of Dynasty beneath a living volcano. Water, fire, survival, and political tension shape nearly every part of life.

The Rift-Scarred Expanse

The Forsaken Lands

Desert, badland, salt basin, petrified forest, buried city, and rift-touched wilderness form a landscape repeatedly rewritten by catastrophe. Yet the Lands are not empty. Forsaken communities build homes among ruins, defend precious water, trade across dangerous territory, and survive beside the strange beings known as Others.

The Elemental Heart

Aetharia

Four elemental realms shape Aetharia: the Verdant Wilds, Tidal Reaches, Emberlands, and Skyreach Highlands. At their center stands Aether City, where ancient elemental magic and advanced Aethertech coexist beneath the influence of the Ward dynasty. Nature, invention, spirituality, and power are all tangled together here.

Routes, Borders & Crossings

Roads between realms.

The map looks connected. Travel disagrees. Mountains, water, fortified borders, and one enormous rift-scarred expanse decide which neighbors can actually reach one another.

The Continental Problem

The Forsaken Barrier

Aetharia and Aether City sit inside protected lands whose northern approaches are cut off from the outer kingdoms by the Forsaken Lands. Mistralis, Seoul, and Eldralis may look close on an atlas, but a direct overland journey toward Aetharia means confronting the rift-scarred territory between them. Roads vanish, safe routes change, and local knowledge can matter more than the map itself.

Outer Realms → Forsaken Lands → Aetharia

The Northern Passes

Established

Seoul ↔ Mistralis

Seoul's Northpoint narrows into high mountain roads that lead toward Mistralis. These passes provide one of the clearest direct land connections between two of the outer kingdoms, though the route becomes colder and harsher as travelers approach Mistralan territory.

Northpoint specializes in scouts, couriers, climbers, mountain wardens, and difficult high-road travel.

The Western Sea

Maritime

Seoul ↔ Eldralis

Seoul's Westpoint opens onto the Western Sea and handles the kingdom's ports, shipyards, customs houses, fisheries, and foreign traffic. Maritime routes provide Seoul's established connection toward Eldralis and lands beyond without requiring a direct crossing of the continental interior.

Westpoint wealth moves by tide, cargo, ship, and whatever foreign rumor arrived before breakfast.

The Southern Road

Interrupted

Seoul → Aetharia

Southpoint maintains Seoul's principal overland approach toward Aetharia, but "toward" is doing important work here. Aetharia is not sitting conveniently at the end of a pleasant royal highway. The Forsaken Lands occupy the territory between the outer world and Aetharia's protected heartlands.

Reaching Aetharia by land requires a Forsaken crossing, guides, changing route knowledge, or some other controlled means of passage.

Forsaken Crossings

Dangerous

Across the Central Expanse

There is no single road through the Forsaken Lands. Dune seas migrate, storms uncover old routes and bury others, rift activity changes terrain, and settlements guard local knowledge fiercely. Caravans survive through wells, maps, scouts, remembered shelters, and information updated far more often than respectable atlases admit.

A route showing when a road is safe may be more valuable than one showing where the road is.

The Eastern Approach

No Safe Direct Road

Eldralis → Aetharia

Eldralis stands outside Aetharia's protected central lands. The map places the Forsaken expanse between its interior and Aetharia, meaning an ordinary direct overland route does not simply continue from one realm into the other. Travel must account for the hostile territory separating them.

No specific permanent international overland road between Eldralis and Aetharia is currently established in the atlas.

The Nexus Gates

Internal Network

Aether City ↔ Four Elemental Realms

Once inside Aetharia, movement works very differently. Aether City serves as the nexus of the Verdant Wilds, Emberlands, Tidal Reaches, and Skyreach Highlands. Four Nexus Gates connect the city directly to their corresponding elemental realms, turning the capital into the world's most important internal crossroads.

The Nexus network connects Aetharia to itself. It does not erase the Forsaken Lands separating Aetharia from the outer kingdoms.

Atlas Rule

Distance on the page is not travel time. A kingdom may look close enough to touch and still require mountain passes, ocean travel, guarded crossings, local guides, magical infrastructure, or a very serious reconsideration of the trip.

The Atlas.

The Aetharian Atlas gathers the maps of one connected world, from entire realms to individual cities, sanctuaries, and strongholds. Open any plate to examine it in full.

These maps show different scales. Some chart nations and territories, while others move close enough to show districts, roads, waterways, fortifications, and individual landmarks.
